You do not need to complete the entire Seokchon Lake circuit for the visit to work. A specific view, a short walk before dinner or a pause beside the water can each be a good plan. Decide which one you want before choosing your meeting point.

Name the lake, not just the attraction
Songpa-gu describes Seokchon Lake as two sections, East Lake and West Lake, divided by Songpa-daero. A message saying ‘meet by the lake’ can therefore send people to quite different places. Share a precise map pin and identify the side. If a restaurant booking follows the walk, use its location to decide where the walk should end.
This is more useful than automatically starting at the nearest point to your arrival station. Think of the outing as a route between two practical anchors: where everyone meets and where the next part of the day begins. Check the connection between the lakeside path and street level instead of assuming that a point which looks close on a flat map is the most convenient exit.

Choose West Lake for the amusement-island view
Magic Island sits in West Lake, giving this side a distinctive amusement-park backdrop. If that is the photograph you want, plan around the western section rather than walking an entire circuit first. Viewing the island from the lakeside and entering Lotte World’s attractions are separate activities; one should not be mistaken for admission to the other.
For East Lake, make the waterside walk itself the focus. Neither side can responsibly be promised as always quiet. Events, weather and the time of day change how people use the space. If the preferred photo position is busy, move on and return only if it still fits the outing. A lake walk should not become a queue for a single composition.

Use seasonal photographs as context, not a forecast
Cherry-blossom pictures explain one reason the lake is well known, but they are not a reliable promise for your chosen date. The same applies to an autumn scene or a photograph with festival installations. Separate three questions: what season the photograph records, what the weather will be during your visit, and whether an event has actually been announced.
There is still a worthwhile walk when the famous seasonal display is absent. Choose a smaller observation: reflected buildings, a line of trees or the change in the water’s color near sunset. If a particular café or event is essential, confirm that business or event directly. A tourism article listing a venue years ago is useful background, not proof that it still operates with the same menu or hours.

Set an end time before committing to both lakes
The district describes a circumference of roughly 2.5 kilometers. That figure does not include your personal allowance for photography, sitting down, meeting friends or finding an exit. Decide whether one lake or both fit the available time. If dinner is fixed, choose the turn-back point while there is still enough time to reach the restaurant comfortably.
After dark, keep the walking route clear when stopping for a photograph and use the signed paths. Plan the station or bus stop from the place where you intend to finish. A partial circuit is not an incomplete visit. It is often the more deliberate choice when the goal is conversation or an evening view rather than distance.
Before you go
Search Seokchon Lake (석촌호수) in Songpa-gu and choose the East or West Lake pin that matches your route. The district lists Jamsil Station access. Parking, commercial attractions and event arrangements are separate from the lakeside walk.
Check the venue’s current visitor information before setting out, especially for closures, access and reservations.
