Seoul Botanic Park: decide between the conservatory and a free outdoor walk

Published September 27, 2026 · Updated September 27, 2026Seoul botanic park 03

Photographs of Seoul Botanic Park mix an indoor conservatory with expansive outdoor landscapes. Those spaces do not all have the same ticket or opening rules. Decide whether the plant collection or the park walk is your priority before choosing an arrival time; otherwise a relaxed walk can end with a hurried arrival at a closing ticket desk.

Understand which spaces need a ticket

The official admission page separates the paid Conservatory and Display Gardens from the free Forest Field, Lake Garden, and Wetland. If your main interest is the indoor plant collection, plan around the paid area’s timetable. If you simply want to walk outside, identify the free park areas on the official map rather than assuming a ticket is necessary for everything.

For a mixed visit, put the conservatory first and keep the outdoor walk flexible. This is an itinerary suggestion, not a required direction of travel. It works because your optional walk can shorten if you get tired, while the last admission time will not move to accommodate you.

Use last admission, not just closing time

From March through October, the paid garden operates from 09:30 to 18:00, with last entry at 17:00. From November through February, closing and last entry move an hour earlier. Mondays are normally closed for the paid area; check date-specific notices for exceptions before traveling.

An afternoon arrival therefore needs two checks: which season’s hours apply, and how much time you want inside after entering. The fact that a ticket can still be purchased does not mean the remaining time suits a slow visit. If the collection is the point of the trip, choose another arrival time rather than rushing through it merely to say you went.

Look for differences in form

Inside, try choosing one visual feature to follow: leaf thickness, branching shape, or the height at which foliage collects. Compare two plants before reading their labels, then use the descriptions to refine your observations. This makes the information easier to connect to something you actually noticed, without requiring you to memorize a long list of names.

For photographs, pair one wider scene with a close detail taken from the visitor path. Do not move plants or step into beds for a cleaner composition. The images in this article illustrate forms and spaces recorded at the park; they do not establish that a named plant or temporary display remains in the same position today.

Budget for the visit you will actually enjoy

Standard individual admission is listed as KRW 5,000 for adults, KRW 3,000 for youths, and KRW 2,000 for children. Exemptions and discounts have eligibility and documentation conditions. Check those conditions if relevant rather than assuming a reduced price based on a broad age label in a travel summary.

Agree with companions whether you want the ticketed garden before arriving. Someone interested only in an outdoor stroll may prefer a different plan from a visitor who wants to linger over plant labels. Leave your return route and weather tolerance in the calculation: ‘conservatory first, optional walk afterward’ and ‘free park only today’ are both complete, worthwhile visits.
